Between February and April this year, Hon Maraga commonly known as CJ, led the UGM Party on a Ukatiba Caravan through 43 counties, not by helicopter but by road, so that no community, however remote, was skipped. From Lamu on the coast to Tangulbei in Baringo, Samburu to the shores of Lake Victoria, the Caravan combined voter registration drives with civic education on the 2010 Constitution.
In open consultative forums, residents raised concerns ranging from youth unemployment and the cost of living to historical land injustices and marginalisation.
The tour heard directly from farming and pastoralist communities about neglect and exclusion, which are shaping the Ukatiba and Ukombozi agendas.
By the time the Caravan wound down in April, it had become the backbone of the campaign's ground game, with record single-day voter registration numbers in counties like Lamu. It lit the national that culminated in the State of the Nation address on June 16.
